Appointed as the Rector of Bursa Uludağ University (BUÜ) by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Prof. Dr. Ferudun Yılmaz was appointed as Prof. at the ceremony. Dr. He took over from Ahmet Saim Guide.
Speaking at the ceremony attended by many academic and administrative staff, BUU's 9th Rector Prof. Dr. Ferudun Yılmaz said that they will start shouldering this task as of today, with the recommendations of the YÖK Presidency and the permissions of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Prof. Dr. Rector Prof. pointed out that Ahmet Saim Rehber seriously raised the bar during his tenure as Rector. Dr. Ferudun Yilmaz; “With the understanding that continuity is essential in the state, we will continue to work to carry the flag we received from our teacher even further. In the previous period, important steps were taken and the foundations were laid. Hopefully, we will complete these works during our term. "When our construction is completed, our university will be completed in its main lines," he said.

Emphasizing that the satisfaction of academic and administrative staff has reached a certain point and that they will make efforts to increase this satisfaction, Prof. Dr. Ferudun Yilmaz; “Another important issue will be our place among the Research Universities. These universities are evaluated among themselves every year. But there is stiff competition out there. We will continue to work sensitively with our academic and administrative staff to bring Bursa Uludağ University, which has a tradition of nearly half a century, to a much better place among Research Universities. "No matter what, we will always keep this concept at the forefront," he said.
Previous Rector Prof. Dr. Prof. thanked Ahmet Saim Guide for his services. Dr. Ferudun Yilmaz; “We had a productive 4 years with our teacher. We benefited from his experiences. We also learned a lot in terms of management. "Hopefully, from now on, we will do our best to raise the bar set by our teacher even higher," he said.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Saim Rehber started his speech by thanking his colleagues who worked beyond all praise for 4 years. Noting that they left behind a beautiful and productive period, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Saim Guide; “We carried out our duty with the understanding of a Student-Friendly and Community-Integrated University. We have undertaken many projects in line with these two visions. As a result of the studies carried out, we have significantly increased the satisfaction rates of students, academicians, administrative staff and external stakeholders. We opened the doors of a university stuck in its shell to everyone. We cooperated with all segments of society. We did not discriminate against any political views. We tried to do business with the inclusive identity of our university. "The point we have reached is, of course, a product of hard work," he said.

Guide points out that an environment of peace and trust has been created within the university as a result of the work carried out with a transparent and inclusive approach; “In general terms, institutional accreditation has been received. The number of accredited programs increased to 15. For the first time, the 1004 center of excellence project was accepted by TUBITAK, and for the first time, a Horizon project was accepted under the leadership of our university. When we put these on top of each other, we can see that environment of peace and trust much more clearly. I predict that we will continue to reap the benefits of these efforts for another 2-3 years. I'm happy. Because it is the best happiness for me to be able to hand over this task to a friend of mine who is considered my copy and who takes on the most of my burden. Hopefully, the culture of common sense and consultation will continue in the future. I have completed 50 years in my civil service life. I have 46 years of academic life. The highest point I could reach was the Rectorate. I am also retiring from this position. I request you to continue to give the same support to my teacher Ferudun that you have given to me. "If I have the right, I beg your pardon, and you should also give me your rights," he said.
